Shania 5

My Birthday Girl

Shania blowing the 5 candles

Shania turned 5 last Friday but due to a lot of factors I arranged a belated birthday party for her with family members last night. It was a meaningful party with my mum and dad in the City and my Uncles and Aunties and cousins cheering her up. It was not easy. I was in the final stretch in clearing the SCORE bills, presently preparing for a two weeks SCORE Roadshow which starts in Miri on 1 March 2008 and at the same time recruited to be part of the Election 2008 Operations Room team, while going about on performing my official function. Surely there would be a time when your official time boundary becomes a wee bit thin that it enroaches into your personal time. Well Monday seems just like that when I discovered that I had to go to Kuala Lumpur for a day long meeting (at PWTC) and at the same time plan for Shania's birthday here in Kuching in the evening. Gosh - another Jack Bauer '24' stunt.....

The 8 a.m morning Crunch in Kuala Lumpur

So it was a 6 a.m flight to KL and I woke up at 4 a.m so that I would not miss the flight. Got a cab immediately from KLIA to go into Kuala Lumpur and discovered that the jam was terrible. I thought the best solution was to use the LRT or Star or Putra or KTM or Rapid KL or whatever these KLites prefer to call it to some Bandar here and there. I forgot to mention that I was a a small Cat City guy from across South China Sea, who can't differentiate which was which, so I relied on the map at the stations.

UMNO Youth banner - 'Sedia Gempur' Battle Cry

UMNO headquarter's election materials - Lock & Load, ready for distribution, ready for battle

Upon reaching my meeting destination at PWTC, and getting lost looking for my meeting venue, I realised I was in the middle of a giant organisation's castle - UMNO. After all there is an election going on and looking at all these election supplies and materials I was in wonderment at their organisational capacity. I would say I can a lot from them and at what I managed to see there.

Destination Kuching: After the meeting i made a dash to Kuching on the next earlier flight as I could not risk my actual flight back at 6:30 p.m being delayed. After being put on the wait list for the 4:00 p.m, I thanked God that I got it, which allows me some breathing space to arrange for my daughter's birthday and the rest of the story goes on.

Working with the restaurant to set up the venue

Dinner and party progressed well with some special fresh Mango juice to tickle the tastebuds

Special guests and my inspiration that made my day: Mum & Dad with Shania - I am constantly reminded on how my parents will without fail organise my birthday party and my brother and sisters'. Another day and another year we are together with God's Blessings and Grace. I look forward for more birthdays ahead.
