Gawai Dayak 2006

Selamat Ari Gawai Dayak 2006

This is a wee bit early to wish everyone Selamat Ari Gawai, but since this blog will be a bit inactive for the coming Gawai Dayak, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of Nadai Nama's Blog a Happy Gawai Dayak 2006. As usual there will be a lot of activities before and after Gawai like dinners and some barbecue sessions with friends and relatives. So the Internet World will be put on hold for a while as I catch up on good times with family, relatives and friends.

Gawai Wishes from me and my family

I did however manage to catch a glimpse of the Fair and Lovely Constestants when I attended a World Harvest Festival Celebration at the Sarawak Cultural Village. I have to thank Clarence of Neudimenxion for this opportunity.

Tickets were quite steep: RM150 per pax (includes dinner, open day at Cultural Village)

Dinner setting at the Performance Hall

The dinner setup (sorry the picture is a bit shaky)

Jennifer Jack was one of the artises performing at the dinner - here she is rendering the song 'Cemburu' - her hit single
My badminton buddy, Gary, was host that evening

Beauty is best described in pictures, so I won't be blabbering so much in the blog about it. At least my missus will know what I have been up to with my trusty camera. Though my baby Shania insists that she wants to tag along whenever I get near any of the contestants.

Beauties for the Fair & Lovely Contest

Introduction sessions

Another angle

There was a theme play about Rentap and Bukit Sadok after the dinner which we also attended. Among the VIPs was the legendary Puteri Gunung Ledang, Tiara Jacqueline.

Among the VIP guests, our famous couple - Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Alfred Jabu and YB Senator Dato Sri Empiang Jabu

Datin Tiara Jacqueine

Datuk Effendi Norwawi with the children with the Deputy Chief Minister & wife

Part of the Bukit Sadok Stage Setup

The play was good - with the sound system also. The only thing that the organisers have never learnt is the audience's viewing angle. They have been staging plays like this for the past few years which I attended and they the viewing opportunity for those guests who do not have the VIP tags are restricted. Some people have to stand on the chairs. Its Gawai and I am in no mood to blame anyone at the moment. I just hope that the organisers look into this next time around. Once again, Thank you Clarence and also Selamat Ari Gawai Dayak 2006 to everyone!

Note: My apologies for some of the blurry pictures. It is due to the camera's 'night mode' not working properly. It means I have to change my camera soon. Most of the pictures were poorly lighted. That means a less beer this Gawai.
