Dato' Sri Peter Tinggom (1924 - 2007)
Updated from Borneo Post 16th March 2007
Nadai Name Blog wishes to convey its deepest condolence to the family of the late Dato' Sri Peter Tinggom ak Kamarau who passed away on the midnight of 14th March 2007. The late Dato' Sri Peter was a good friend of my late grandfather when he was serving as a government officer in Kapit. The late Dato' Sri has an illustrous career in government service having served as a Native Officer, Sarawak Administrative Officer, District Officer, Resident throughout the state of Sarawak. Then he went into politics and was active in the former Sarawak Natuonal Party (SNAP) and the new Sarawak Democratic People's Party (SPDP)serving as Deputy President. He was a Member of Parliament for Saratok and have served as a Deputy Minister for National Unity and Social Development. Detailed information will be updated on this blog later as I would like to get accurate information - but looking at the late Dato' Sri's career path, his involvement in the development of the state and the country is worth mentioning.

I've never thought that Des would blog about this. the late Datuk was my late grandma's friend and we're related somehow. the current house in kota samarahan is just few steps away from my parents house. opposite the late Datuk's house, is my aunty's and after that my parents'. oh ya, his son, James also working at the same dept with me.
... when i received the news of his passes, i was stumbled upon hearing it and couldn't talk. it was a few weeks after we had chat on the phone, and now he's gone. Yup, he contacted me personally to get into the RTU ward w/out wasting time to queue up at Appt. counter. He did contact my boss too. a part of the conversation between us that i will remember always.
Datuk: Ohh, A** nya aunty nuan, menyadi apak nuan pia?
Me: Au. Apai ku ke tuai.
Datuk: Pia.... anak Ch***** , uchu M** lah nuan tu?
Me: Ya meh nya Datuk! *LOL
Datuk: udah lama nuan gawa dia Endu?
me: Ya Datuk. kenyau ari ku grad UiTM suba deh. nyau masuk 7 tahun dah.
Datuk: Ohh manah meh nya Endu...
Me: Aku udah ngatur nuan legi nuan masuk terus ngagai wad, niboh kiroh nganti bla bla bla bla and so on....
but one thing really touched my heart, he did say, "aku tu nda lama agi deh Endu, nganti ari aku tu. Aku telipon ke nuan tu pan ari bilik tindok tu.."
.... I still remember his soft-spoken words, still.
May God take care of him and may he rest in peace. Amen.
