Gong Xi Fa Cai Toast

Chinese New Year 2013 in Sibu

Wishing Happy Chap Goh Mei

Celebrating Chinese New Year in Sarawak is always a wonderful experience for me. I get to go back to Sibu to celebrate with my parents and friends there. Not that I am a celebrant but the long holidays allows me to take time off and share the joy of ushering in the Year of the Snake in a meaningful way for this year itself is like a family reunion. My brother and sisters were all home at this time also. The fireworks, firecrackers and visiting sessions were fantastic, that is what I can summarise. Anyway this year I brought along a video cam to try to capture how Gong Xi Fa Cai 2013 experience in Sibu Sarawak is celebrated. I could not capture everything but its just enough to get the essence of Chinese New Year in Sarawak.

I wish to thank everyone who has welcomed us to their open house especially Kapitan John Goh, Mr. Sebastian and family, Mr. Joseph and family, and Cikgu Lau and family. From the Youtube video I uploaded it can be seen that from inter marriages it may be confusing to say who is celebrating Chinese New Year in Sarawak, but this is the Sarawak Experience. Our unity is in sharing the toast for prosperity for the good of all, wishing the best for everyone. Happy Chinese New Year Gong Xi Fa Cai, Happy Chap Goh Mei, may good fortunes shine for all Yaaaaammmseeeng!! OooHaaaaaaa!
