Majlis Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam

The Majlis Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam ke-8 event brought me to Kuala Lumpur this week as I tagged along with the other State Civil Service comrades of mine to represent the State in this Forum with the Prime Minister. The function was held at the Dewan Plenary, International Convention Centre, Putra Jaya.

The International Convention Center looks majestic on top of a hill

The red carpet entrance for our Right Honourable Prime Minister

A large gathering of Civil Servants and Corporate figures totaling almost 9,000

Its interior design is impressive - I kept adminirng the upper view and amazing lights

The stage area is large providing space for two gigantic screens as the teleconference also involved the Civil Servants in Sabah and Sarawak. One screen showed the Prime Minister and the other showed the gatherings of the Civil Servants in Sabah and Sarawak.

And so that's it - I seldom say much in my blog if its about work or else it would bore the readers. My apologies for not getting in touch with Ruis & Headsteadi and the other members of the crew when I was in Kuala Lumpur. It was quite a hectic schedule again as I was on the phone most of the time and replying emails and SMSes on my mobile phone. Which was why I was eyeing the various communication gadgets in Low Yat in my previous blog. I was looking for some magical toy which can assist me to be in touch with my office even when I am on the road. Anyway I saw many cool ones and most were beyond my budget. I know my office won't be paying for these equipment as they are not standard government issue (we always get the old stuff). With the departmental procedures it would take ages to get one at all as it takes a few months to process and by the time I get what I want its already obsolete. I actually envy the corporate fellas who attend our meetings and they take out their PDA phones and start tinkering with those sexy stylus they have. A bunch of show offs I guess as I was salivating at the various models they were holding. 'This is the latest model but I am getting a newer version next month couriered from US' they would say to their other corporate friend sitting beside who would also be surfing on his new Mac iPhone. Wah... where to hide my i-mobile handphone. It would sure help ease the pressure on mobile road warriors like us if we are able to attend to official matters even if one is on travelling duty. Actually this was the call made by our Prime Minister to the Civil Servants - keep up with the times and technology. Thus it would be good for me to be able to sit at Starbucks drinking coffee and tend to my office work while in Kuala Lumpur or in other places for that matter. Or I could be rocking away till midnight at The Ship, Bukit Bintang enjoying the music of Fuzzy Logic with a glass of Jack Daniels accompanying me while drafting some policy papers on banning night entertainments in Kuching. That would be fun!
