Nomination and Election Date

An Afternoon with SPR Chairman

The Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) Chairman YBhg Tan Sri Dato Sri Abdul Aziz bin Mohd Yusof met with the 71 Returning Officers before the announcement of Nomination and Polling dates at the Pullman Hotel on 23 Mac 2011. During the brief meeting the SPR Chairman made a few announcements and reminders. The latest development amongst others, such as the status of Parti Cinta Malaysia's logo and the appointment of MAFREL was conveyed to the Returning Officers. I'll spare the details in this blog as it is more about the handing over of Election Writ by the SPR Chairman to the Returning Officers from N.1 to N.71.

After the meeting with the Returning Officers the Election commission officials held a Press Conference to announce the Nomination and Polling dates

The Election Writ with the Nomination and Polling date

Thus the Election Commission has announced the the Nomination Day for the 10th State Election will be on 6th April 2011 which falls on a Wednesday and Polling will be on 16th April 2011 which falls on a Saturday. All the 71 Returning Officers were also handed the Nomination Forms (RM20 per set), additional official documents and official stamp for their respective constituencies. Apart from our capacity as administrators in the Division or Districts, as Returning Officers, we will now have to perform our duty as SPR appointed officials - a different thinking hat altogether. Let's do it.
