Nasi Ayam Penyet

Nasi Ayam Penyet in Sri Aman

I had a nice round of Nasi Ayam Penyet at one of the food outlet in Sri Aman. I was so curious as it was indeed a delicious dish to try. However I have to be careful to state here that I do not know the origin of the dish as the cook was from Penang. It could be Sarawakian (after being modified) or it may be not - mind you, I do not wish to spark any international dispute if it originates from outside Malaysia. Some says the original is from Indonesia... hopefully no diplomatic ties are broken just because of Ayam Penyet. However by the sound of it - Ayam Penyet - one may think that the chicken is served after it has been run over by a car, thus the word 'Penyet' or flattened.

Anyway I surfed the Internet to find out the nature of the dish and I came upon articles in Tummies Grow and A Tiger in the Kitchen.... yikes! ~ the name of these blogs reminded me to watch my diet but indeed I am as hungry as a tiger after the dish was served.

The Nasi Ayam Penyet - Sri Aman version

Special cili prepared by the cook is super hot - something that attracts the customers who are looking for some knockout cili which causes one to sweat when consumed

I was so tempted that I had to check out the Ayam Penyet menu in the kitchen with my long lost buddy Mr. Freddy Serit @ Firdaus Abdullah whom I met in Sri Aman

Overall it was a very filling dish - something that I would recommend if you drop by in Sri Aman looking for a quick meal. One must ask for the Nasi Ayam Penyet with Nasi Kuning. Compliments to the chef..... i hope she introduces more Penang dishes here soon....Yum Yum!
