The Sealed Letter

Finally the news that I had been hearing from my colleagues via phone calls and SMSes landed in my in tray. Its a transfer order in the form of a sealed letter and I notice that my comrades seemed to be talking about it more than I do. Moving or transfer is part of the State Civil Service's practice and its an ongoing process to ensure that the officers are exposed to the various levels of administrative hierachy (from Headquarters to the implementing agencies). One has to accept wherever one is posted or deployed. So it is always a challenge for those who have been in one place (station as we call it in the Civil Service) for too long. That anxiety in adjusting and adapting to the new workplace - sometimes one has to be prepared mentally. I remembered being transferred to the State Secretary's Office about four month's ago and I had to prepare myself for the various challenging tasks thrown at me. Its as the previous Pegawai Tadbir Khas, Udin Bujang of Titian Damai when he comented in my blog that the work was about trust. I have to say I had an interesting time and the leraning curve was rather steep. It was a honour to serve the State Secretary and I thank him for allowing me to move on for the purpose of further exposure.

A sealed directive

These letter my other comrades in the transfer list would have in their in tray

The transfer order (arahan pertukaran) - I am the obedient servant: I will look forward to the new station as I survey the place this weekend

Updated 22 June 2008

Thanks for all your SMSes on those who keep asking me where I am being posted to. I will soon blog the experience in my own time as I intend to share with readers the experience of this new station - Nadai Nama Nama style of course. I pray that the area I stay will be covered by Streamyx so that I can update the blog on my experience here.

In response to the SMSes queries - I am posted to work at the Resident Office to work at the place with the picture of two Peace Dove above, as one of the the Resident's Administrators to serve the people there.

Congratulation Desmond. A place we call home (whenever we are in Malaysia) is about 1.5 miles away from the Roundabout with Pigeon Statues.

We will be seeing a lot more pics from around Sri Aman division and other divisions. Thanks to you Mr. Deputy Resident.
