That Magic 39

Your Obedient Servant Turns 39

I keep wondering why I am at this keyboard typing away on the blog while doing work at the same time. Amazing.... its been like this for the past two weeks or more. I lose count. I even lose count that I turned 39 when the clock struck 12 midnite. I felt sorry for my staff and friends who invited me out to celebrate a day earlier. Sometimes I wonder if I can get my mind off work if I were to join them. I may end up spoiling their fun as the phone has been from ringing by the hour and its always 'I want it now! I want it by the next hour!'. So its a wonder when some people say that working in the Civil Service is 'kacang' or easy. The only thing I know that is kacang or peanuts is the pay we get. But still, when you know what you are doing has an impact on the future of your fellow Sarawakians and this land we love, one tends to stay on even if the offer is more lucrative on the other side of the fence. Maybe not now as the State is currently embarking on a very important project.

An evening with the Master Planners

Something big is coming up for the State in the next few weeks which will benefit all Sarawakians in the future. I am not saying this from a speechwriter's point of view. It would have helped if the project launching was to be done on time which was in December 2007 - as planned. It won't look good if its delayed. But if its brought forward, by two to three weeks earlier, which is what is happening now, all those timeline which was earlier prepared means more sleepless nights as efforts are doubled to meet the deadline. Anyway, the reward is knowing that you are doing the best for the State and maybe help develop our younger ones to become Angkasawan in the coming future.

Warming up those Master Planners' seats with my colleagues - (from left) Nadai Name Blogger, Buckland Bangik, Mr. Daddi, and Dzuren Datu Hamzah

So I guess it will be a quiet evening out with the family and then it will be back to work. Though I would have wanted to celebrate it in a more 'beer session' kind of way, its just impossible. I am, after all, your obedient servant (that's how Civil Servants used to sign the letters during the British Civil Service days). So your obedient servant has to finish off some assignments and work plans now. Thanks for those emails, wishes and SMSes.
